For Those Whom
God Loves
I am within the One who is, and, through Him, I write.
My friends, many of you have prayed for me knowing that cancer had claimed a place for itself within me, and I thank you for this. It is not the cancer in me that causes my flesh to suffer. This illness is like a breath that comes and leaves me with what I am: my state of being which must learn to love. This illness is not my master within me; it is only the Lord who is my Master within me. He gives us strength, knowing that our flesh is weak due to our refusal of the Divine Will.
We must all, every one of us, give ourselves on behalf of one and all: all to all. Our God is unique and we are unique only in and through Him. He alone unites us on earth that we may form a loving union before his Father.
My stay in the hospital led me to discover that when suffering wants to take over completely, that is the time to embrace the cross, to love Jesus more than ourselves. Our suffering is no longer – it is the suffering of Jesus that becomes present, it leads us to love: an unconditional love, a love for the Flesh, not ours but rather that of God, who loved us to the point of dying.
There is such strength in Him, there is such joy in praying while saying, “I love you, Jesus, I adore you.” These moments lead us to total renunciation: I am yours, Jesus, only yours; do with me as you will. In that moment, the love for one’s neighbour makes itself known: a fathomless, limitless love – to the point of dying for the sake of love. God is everything and we all belong to Him. Everything to everyone.
May God reveal
his face to us, may his gaze cover us with his clemency, we who have so often
turned our backs on Him, and may our love comfort Him, the Neglected One. Amen.
